MAIL CALL
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
My wife loves to get the mail. She looks forward every day to opening that box and taking out all of the stuff in it, from ads to packages to personals. She likes the things we call “personals” the best, and always opens them first. This includes letters and cards; all else waits for that. Sometimes the stuff goes directly from the mailbox to the recycling basket. But the personals always grab her attention. She wants to be up on all family activities, invitations, information and illnesses, as these things guide her in formulating her calendar.
The Lord God of the universe has sent you mail. No junk mail, advertisements, political propaganda or bills. His mail comes directly from the heavenly throne, always in the form of “personals”: 66 letters that tell us how to plan our life’s calendar in order to succeed, and how to best use our time on earth. Our church family is run and organized by what His letters say. His letters bring us joy and hope, and they encourage us not to despair, or to waste time worrying. They remind us that miracles still happen, and they keep us informed about what is going on in heaven in case we have friends and loved ones there. Best of all, we don’t have to wait for Him to show up at the door before we can read all of this Good News!
May we be as excited and interested in getting our mail from Jesus as we are to see that postal person!
