IT WAS STOLEN!
Watch out and be on your guard against every form of greed, for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions. Luke 12:15
I once sold a motorcycle by trading it for a Camcorder and some cash. A few days later my house was broken into while I was at work, and it was stolen. Probably by the guy that sold it to me. I was quite upset about it. I possessed it for only a few days. After it was stolen, my life continued on without it. Today, I wouldn’t even use the Camcorder if I had it, because my cellphone easily makes much better videos.
We only own things as long as we can hold on to them. And when we die, we leave all those possessions behind. But, our eternal lives go on. Those possessions will no longer be with you, nor will you even need them, but still you are who you are without them. God’s evaluation of you will not be based upon the possessions you owned or lost. Actually, our possessions are only tools to use in this life. Use the tools you have to accomplish the work God has for you to do today. We really don’t need to be greedy for more. If I need something more to do God’s work, He will provide it, so I can do it. Usually we want something more to make life easier, or to enhance our reputation, appearance, or sometimes just for pleasure. God has actually given us everything we need. Let us be grateful to Him, praise His name, and serve Him with gladness.
