MY MOST PRECIOUS POSSESSION

The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8

Of all the things God that has entrusted to me, my most cherished possession is my Bible.  This is due to the five attributes of Scripture: 1. The Bible is self-authenticating. It makes claims about itself that attests to its own authority, such as in Psalm 119:160, “The sum of Your word is truth.” 2. The Bible is both divine and human at the same time.  Scripture is God’s own word, written by men who were prepared beforehand and then superintended by the Holy Spirit as they wrote, as 2 Peter 1:21 declares: “But men being moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” 3. The Scriptures are fully inspired.  All sixty-six books in all their parts, down to the very words of the original autographs, were given by God’s breath, as 2 Timothy 3:16 reveals, “All Scripture is God-breathed.”  4. The Bible is totally inerrant.  There are no errors, mistakes, as the original autographs were free from all falsehood, fraud and deceit.  Jesus guarantees this as true in Matthew 5:18, “not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law.”  5. The Bible is absolutely infallible.  It cannot fall or fail, as Jesus says in John 10:35, “the Scripture cannot be broken.”  Additionally, we know that the prophet Isaiah states that “The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever” (Isaiah 40:8).  It’s reassuring to know that my most precious possession, the Word of God, will be with me throughout eternity.  All my other earthly possessions will perish.  Give thanks to God for your Bible by reading it daily!
