UNWAVERING HOPE
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23
The Christian life is not a sprint; it is a journey of holding on. Hebrews 10:23 issues a vital call: “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering.”
This "holding fast" is a choice we make daily. It isn’t about white-knuckling our way through life by our own strength, but rather anchoring ourselves to a singular truth: “He who promised is faithful.” Our security doesn't rest on the perfection of our grip, but on the perfection of the One holding us.
A true believer may face seasons of deep frustration, heavy discouragement, or even stumble into sin. However, the mark of genuine faith is endurance. We hold on because we know the character of the One who called us.
Consider the story of the young boy told to wait by his father on a street corner for a few minutes. As hours passed and the sun began to set, he didn't panic. He didn't run away. When his father finally arrived after a car accident delayed him, frantic and apologetic, the boy was simply waiting. His reason was simple: "I knew you were coming. You said you would."
That is the essence of holding fast. The world may feel uncertain, and the "few minutes" we expected to wait might turn into a lifetime of longing, but we do not waver. We possess a confession of hope that is anchored in the heavens. Today, if you feel your grip slipping, look away from the circumstances and look to Jesus who promised He was coming. He has never broken a word, and He is coming back just as He said.
