FINDING FUN UNDER THE SUN

There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every matter under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1

King Solomon tried everything under heaven to be happy and enjoy life. However, the more he experienced life and sought pleasure apart from God, the more he saw the futility of life. He had everything to live with and nothing to live for. He tried it all and found that it is vanity and vexation of spirit. He learned that a person can find fun under the sun even when the sun goes under!

Blessing can be found in the providence of God. Can you see the hand of God in your life as you look back? In Ecclesiastes  3:14, Solomon writes: “I know that everything God does will be forever; there is nothing to add to it and there is nothing to take from it - God has so worked that men should fear Him.” When he says “fear,” he’s referring to reverential awe and loving adoration. Read verses 1-8 of Ecclesiastes 3.

I can really identify with verse 6. Someone has said that 3 moves are as good as a fire. I’ve moved so many times that I’ve thrown away most of what I owned! Notice also verse 11. God has “made everything beautiful (appropriate) in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.” The ways of God are mysterious to people. For us as believers, we don’t know why God does all the things that He does; but we know why we don’t know why! It is because He is God and we are not; amen? I don’t know the end or the beginning, but God knows the end from the beginning. He knows all about you and will lead you in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake as you trust in Him with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5-6).
